The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce announced their largest fundraising event, Taste Edmonds, has been canceled for the first time in 38 years.
“As phased openings have stalled and Governor Inslee has banned all live music performances, it is just not possible to hold the event.” said Greg Urban, President & CEO of the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce. “Taste Edmonds is first and foremost a fundraiser that directly funds our non-profit operations and free community events we produced, including: An Edmonds Kind of 4th, the Edmonds Classic Car Show, Halloween Trick-or-Treat, and the Tree Lighting Ceremony. Additionally, over $25,000 each year goes to local non-profits and service groups who help staff the festival.”
Each year Taste Edmonds brings in an estimated 40,000 people over the 3-day festival. The event has something for everyone with dozens of food trucks, 100 vendors, kid’s activities and live entertainment in one of the largest beer gardens in the State.
“Taste Edmonds is hands-down my favorite weekend each year. This year will be only the third time in nearly 30 years it won’t be part of my summer.” said Kelsey Foster, longtime Edmonds resident. “And while it makes me sad that because of the virus, the event can’t take place – I am hopeful that it will be back in 2021. Which will happen only if our community steps up to support the Chamber who produces so many wonderful Edmonds events each year.”
Given the cancelation of multiple events, including An Edmonds Kind of 4th, Edmonds Classic Car Show and now Taste Edmonds, the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce has launched a fundraising campaign called “An Edmonds Kind of Hero” seeking community donations to keep the Chamber going through 2020 and next year. To date they have raised only one-third of the $100,000 goal. You can learn more and donate at www.SupportEdmonds.com.
“If you want to see all of these community events return next year, we need your support.” said Urban “Every donation helps, consider donating a small portion of what you might have spent if you were able to attend Taste Edmonds this year.”
