An Edmonds Kind of 4th
Kick off your summer with Edmonds’ longest running celebration. For 113 years the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce has sponsored the annual all-day party to celebrate America’s birthday.
Bring your family, friends and neighbors to downtown Edmonds for this traditional good old fashioned community 4th of July. Come early for the always fun Beat Brackett 5K and Baby Brackett 1K, then stay for a lively fun-packed day and evening with two patriotic parades, fantastic food, music, dancing and fireworks!

Nothing says 4th of July like a patriotic community parade! Sit back and enjoy two parades for the price of one at the “An Edmonds kind of 4th” celebration, or show your community spirit and bring your family, business or organization out to march in one of the parades.
Register for the Children’s Parade in the ACE Hardware parking lot – 5th Ave S. and Howell St. – from 10:15 a.m.-11:10 a.m. Parade begins at 11:30 a.m. The Children’s Parade welcomes local kids and families in their best red, white and blue holiday costumes, along with decorated bikes, scooters, strollers and wagons! Awards for “Best Bike/Scooter,” “Best Wagon/ Stroller,” “Most Patriotic,” and “Most Original.”
*Please no pets, motorized or battery operated vehicles or propaganda in the staging area of parade route.
At 12:00 PM, enjoy the Main Parade’s fun and colorful mix of marchers, patriotic costumes, music, floats and classic cars from local businesses, bands, dance groups, civic organizations, police, fire and military groups, and even some Star Wars characters! There are six different awards categories from Most Patriotic to Best Decorated. To march in the parade, simply fill out a registration form, along with $25 per group and $25 per vehicle, and be ready to march at noon on July 4th!
Beat Brackett 5K & Baby Brackett 1K
Get your “An Edmonds kind of 4th” off and running with the “Beat Brackett 5K” and “Baby Brackett 1K” family-friendly run/walk! Join other runners, walkers, kids of all ages and parents with strollers and chase ol’ man George Brackett, the founder of Edmonds, through the downtown streets to the finish line. For even more fun, decorate one of the ol’ man Brackett beards that will be distributed, and wear it during the race!
THE “BEAT BRACKETT 5K” FEATURES:
- Electronic timing with RFID chips
- “Beat ol’ man Brackett” competition
- Awards ceremony with medals for top finishers
- Costume contest for best “4th themed” runner
- Early Bird Registrations come with race shirts! Register before May 25, 2020 to get a shirt.
Thank you to the police officers, City of Edmonds and Town of Woodway for their efforts and work to make this run possible and safe for everyone.
Ooh and aah as the skies over Edmonds come alive with the flash, colors and bang of a dazzling fireworks display set to traditional music. Arrive early to find seating as the firework show will begin at 10:00 p.m. with a local singer performing the National Anthem.Be safe as you head home after the long fun day, and be sure to mark your calendars to make “An Edmonds kind of 4th” your annual Independence Day tradition!
Grab some fun and delectable food to keep your energy up for the rest of the day and evening. Food and treats will be by the fountain at 5th and Main during the parade until 2:00 p.m.
The party is just getting started! After the parade, take a stroll around town, visit the waterfront or grab lunch at a local restaurant until the evening festivities. Then cap off your fun-filled “An Edmonds kind of 4th” with a night of fabulous food, entertainment and fireworks, starting at 6:00 p.m.

Q: When and where can I place my chairs for the parade?
Please do not place chairs on the parade route until after 6:00 pm on Monday, July 3rd.
- Chairs and other items placed in the right-of-way along the parade route before 6:00 pm on July 3 will be removed by the Public Works Department. They may be retrieved during regular business hours at the Public Works Building at 7110 – 210th Street SW. Phone: 425-771-0235.
- Road closures begin at 6:00 am on July 4th, plan accordingly for driving and parking.
- Entertainment and vendors at Civic Field from 6:00-10:00 pm.
- Bring chairs and blankets to the Fireworks Show
- Alcohol, dogs, or fireworks are prohibited – do not bring.
Q: Children’s Parade: How do I register my kids and does it cost anything?
A: It is FREE for kiddos to participate in the Children’s Parade but they are REQUIRED to be registered by a legal guardian before the parade begins. Registration for the Children’s Parade starts at 9:30AM at 5thAve S & Holly Dr. (in front of the Ace Hardware).
Q: Fireworks Show – does it cost anything to attend? When does it start? What is the pre-show entertainment?
A: It is FREE to attend the Edmonds Fireworks show.
The show begins when it gets dark – usually around 10pm.
Starting around 6:00pm, music begins to play and vendors begin selling treats and food. There are often face-painters as well! Bring cash as not all vendors take cards.
